Friends Five-O Senior Organization - For those age 50 and older who want to make the best years of their lives even better . . .

The mission of the Friends Five-O Senior program at Natchez Community Hospital is simple: To encourage and promote the best in health through access to quality medical services, education, exciting activities and travel opportunity. The organization, almost fifteen years old and 1,300 members strong, is successful because of its adherence to this mission.

Members enjoy and participate in the following organized activities:

  • Line Dancing – The Boot Scooters are a lively group meeting every Thursday morning since 1993. They take this form of exercise very seriously and have been featured performers at area nursing homes, festivals and community events.

  • Monthly Meetings – These meetings draw a crowd of approximately 95 every month. Speakers keep members informed on community events, cultural events, health related topics of interest and entertainment. This is a great gathering for various community groups to introduce what's going on in their clubs, for city leaders to discuss local items of interest and physicians to discuss their areas of expertise.

  • Art Classes – Under the guidance of a local retired art teacher, members interested in furthering their artistic skills meet weekly at the Friends Five-O Senior office.

  • Travel – Traveling with Friends Five-O group provides affordable travel with people of like interest, an escort that sees to their every need and assists them with all aspects of any given tour and allows those with physical problems an opportunity to travel with confidence that their needs will be met. In addition to international travel the group enjoys special holiday tours, day trips to the theater, and mystery tours.

  • Health Screenings – Members feel comfortable knowing they can receive monthly health screening checks consisting of weekly blood pressure checks and monthly blood sugar screenings. Yearly, they are given the opportunity to have their cholesterol level and checked free of charge.

  • Friendship - Friends Five-O Senior members are very vocal, enthusiastic and proud to boast of their involvement with the program. The organization provides something for everyone and members can choose their level of participation. Friendships have been made, marriages have occurred and members have been given something to look forward to as a result of Friends Five-O Senior.

  • PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) - An amazing program sponsored by The Arthritis Association to help people regain strength and flexibility. Each class is overseen by a certified instructor.
