Patient Financial Services

The mission of the Patient Financial Services department at Natchez Community Hospital is to provide those services necessary so that our patients can meet their financial responsibilities appropriately.

These services include:

Admitting

Our admitting staff is trained to complete the necessary paperwork in a timely, efficient and friendly manner. If you have a MED-KEY card, this process is streamlined. You need to present only your MED-KEY card, your insurance card, and some form of identification and you will soon be on your way. If you do not have a MED-KEY card, the admissions clerk will ask you a series of questions necessary to provide clinical, pastoral and financial services to you. The admissions clerk, after taking the information, will provide you with a MED-KEY card which will speed your admission the next time you come to Natchez Community Hospital for services. 


Insurance Verification

The admissions clerk will usually have your insurance benefits verified before you leave. This step will enable you to know your financial obligations associated with the care and services provided to you by Natchez Community Hospital. We will check the amount of your deductible required by your insurance company for you as well as any co-pay your insurance company requires. We will normally ask that you pay any deductible amount required by your insurance company. Our admissions clerks have assess to most insurance companies’ web sites via the Internet. Those sites provide up to the minute information on your eligibility for benefits, the amount of your deductible, the amount of your deductible you have met and the percentage of co-pay your insurance requires you to pay.


Financial Counseling

In the event you do not have insurance coverage, or cannot pay the deductible required by your insurance company, you will be asked to speak with one of our financial counselors. Our financial counselors are trained to assist you in meeting your financial obligations. We offer a variety of payment plans and prompt pay discounts. Billing
We will file your insurance claims for you. However, we remind you that your insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. We have many agreements with insurance companies, where we have agreed to accept a certain amount for providing services to you, their policyholder. However, almost no insurance pays 100% of that amount. Your insurance company will require you to pay a deductible and a percentage of the remainder, known as co-pay. We are usually contractually bound to attempt collection of the deductible and co-pay.


Eligibility Services

We provide an eligibility service to assist you in the event you do not have private or government insurance. This service will screen your income and assets to help qualify you for Mississippi Medicaid, Louisiana Medicaid, Social Security Income Disability or Victims of Violent Crime, and assist you in completing the requirements to receive one of these programs. This service is provided to you at no cost. However, your cooperation is essential to successfully qualifying for these programs. You are still responsible for the payment for the services provided by Natchez Community Hospital until you are qualified for one of these programs.
